Have you ever wondered or asked around to know if Nigeria has ever had a female governor?
Well, the answer is yes! Nigeria now has a female governor-elect and her name is Aishatu Dahiru Binani. She won the Adamawa state governorship election under the umbrella of the All People’s Congress(APC).
In the 2023 governorship elections across the states of the federation, Aisha Binani emerged as the winner and the first-ever female governor-elect in Nigeria after defeating the incumbent governor of the state, Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
It should be noted that Dame Virginia Ngozi Etiaba also ruled in Anambra for three months as a female governor after Peter Obi was impeached. Peter Obi got back his position after an appeal court nullified the impeachment.
