91-year-old sitting president of Cameroon, Paul Biya has hinted on participating in the country’s next presidential election.
Biya who would be 93 by the next election in 2026 confirmed this week that he will still be riding on his current party’s ticket to contest as he had always done.

He is currently Africa’s longest-serving president after serving as the country’s president for 42 years. He was first elected into power in 1982 after serving as the country’s Prime Ministter for 7 years between 1975 and 1982.
If elected back into power as the president, Biya will rule in Cameroon till he is 100 years old.
According to reports, Biya postponed both the parliamentary and municipal elections to 2026 on approval of the country’s parliament in July claiming that the political calender is crowded.
