Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah was excluded from Egypt’s Olympic Games squad, the Egyptian Football Federation confirmed.
Every participating nation has the right to include three overage players in their squad, which Shawky Gharib couldn’t fully seize the opportunity as the Reds withheld Salah and Galatasaray had also done the same for Mostafa Mohamed for the games held between July 21-August 7

The 22-man squad, called by under 23 coach Shawky Gharib on Friday, contained Al-Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy, Ittihad’s Ahmed Hegazy and Zamalek’s Mahmoud al-Wensh.
The Turkish outfit is taking part in July’s Champions league play-offs against PSV Eindhoven.
The Pharaohs qualified for Tokyo’s Games after their U-23 AFCON victory in 2019.
They stand in Group C, playing against Argentina, Spain, and Australia.
