The king of all seasons for demonstrating acts of kindness and selfless love, Christmas is here again and we could all be the beautiful reason for a rekindled smile on the face of those who had long lost it.

While the sun rushes speedily to bring the day to an end, the celebration of Christmas goes beyond the 25th of December. For the next couple of days, we can all still bask in the sweet atmosphere of the loved ones around us, extend love to our neighbours and live the moment for the well-being of others to the best of our abilities.

While so many others began their Christmas celebrations weeks ago, it is never too late to start yours. A little show of generosity can change the fate of a living being.

Some things we could do for others’ happiness this season could be buying them gifts, ensuring their safety if it’s in your capacity and if you have more voice than they do, you could defend their right from being taken away from them. Let me explain a little bit of what i mean in the shortlist below:

  1. Buying them gifts: This is by far the most general form of appreciation or show of love. And it precedes Christmas itself but very appropriate. You don’t have to tear down your account to do this, it is the intention that matters. Little gifts of notebooks and school bags will definitely lift the mood of a student that may not have had any. And a little grocery shopping for the few people you are able to give or as many as you can give. Your girlfriend, or boyfriend, or wife, or husband also deserves to be pampered. The same goes for the children. Remember your friends too. A lot of people who may have also been a helping hand when you needed one, use this season to tell them you have not taken their love for granted with special gifts and sweet words of appreciation.
  2. Ensuring their safety: There are lots of insecurities flying around these days. Remember that putting your own life at risk may indirectly put someone else’s life in danger too. Be security conscious this Christmas season, not just for you but for the people around you as well.
