Burna Boy loses twice at the 65th Grammy Awards

Highly celebrated Nigerian singer, Burna Boy has lost both Grammy nominations in the just-concluded 65th Grammy Awards.

The African giant as he fondly calls himself lost the “Best Global Music Performance” with his hit single ‘Last Last‘ to South Africa’s Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini, and Nomcebo Zikode this year.

Recall that back in March 14, 2021, Burna Boy won the Best Global Music Album Grammy Award at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards.

The “Love Damini” album by Burna Boy also didn’t win the prize for best Global Music Album. Masa Takumi of Japan defeats Angelique Kidjo and Burna Boy to claim this award.

Burna Boy became the first Nigerian artist to win in this category thanks to his first Grammy two years ago. His album “Twice as Tall,” which came out in August 2020, was praised for its mix of Afrobeat, reggae, hip-hop, and R&B.

Burna Boy’s position as one of the foremost voices in African music was cemented by the album’s positive critical and commercial reception.
