Just mix water and bicarbonate of soda into a thick paste and spread everywhere the metal.
Ensure the rusty spots are fully covered within the paste or this method won’t be effective.
Lemon and salt
This method incorporates the acidic nature of the lemon with the abrasiveness of the salt to attack small rusted spots.

Cover the rusted areas with salt then squeeze juice over the layer of salt.
Let the entire thing sit and soak for about two hours, then scrub the thing with the lemon peel, or wire wool if the stains are stubborn.
Wash off the lemon, salt, and rust remains and dry thoroughly.
Vinegar is such a strong cleaning agent it can get through anything.
To tackle items with tons of rust, this could be your go-to item.
Drown your rusty tools or knives during a bowl of vinegar and allow them to sit overnight.
Once they’ve had an honest soak, remove them from the vinegar and scrub the remainder off.
The best tool for this is often a cleaning pad or wire wool – but it’ll require some effort.
If there are some remaining rust spots, repeat the method but soak the merchandise for extended use.
Once all rust has been peeled, clean off with dish soap and water and dry completely.
